Severe storms erupted across the state of Oklahoma Wednesday, with many producing high winds and tornadoes.

The towns of Bridge Creek and Amber took a significant hit and dozens of homes were destroyed.

Grady County Emergency Services Director Dale Thompson said as many as ten homes were destroyed in Amber and 25 destroyed in Bridge Creek by tornadoes that touched down in the area Wednesday evening.

The Bridge Creek Fire Department's mobile unit, which is a mobile home they use for training, was destroyed. The main station suffered minor damage, but it is operable.

State Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Keli Cain said an unknown number of homes in Blanchard in the same area were also damaged.

The metro area was also affected by severe storms and a tornado touched down on the south side of Oklahoma City.

There are no reports of injuries at this time.
