Storms swept through the Blanchard area damaging several structures.

One family lost three barns Saturday night while their animals were inside.

Chris and Randy Stewart have lived in their home right on the Blanchard and McClain County line for decades.

They said they have missed tornadoes that have hit the area before, but not on Saturday.

The couple was actually inside the Newcastle Braum's getting ice cream when the storm hit. They got numerous calls from neighbors and family saying that their three barns had been it.

Along Highway 162 and MacArthur Avenue, the tornado tore the roofs of the barns while nearly 30 animals were inside.

They still had an active power line inside their dairy barn that an electrical company had to come shut off.

They moved all their cows and horses to an out-building on their property in the meantime.

Overall, they're grateful the storms weren't worse.

“Our three hay barns, all of our animals are OK, the cows and horses are fine, our tractor was in the south barn, it missed it, and we were really very lucky," said Randy Stewart.

The family hopes to start cleanup soon when rain lets up. In addition to the Stewarts, Blanchard Police said one home was seriously damaged along with three out-buildings in the area with a few road closures.
