One man drowned trying to save another at Lake Altus, and Saturday morning both are dead.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the bodies of the two drowning victims were recovered from a river that runs from Lake Altus-Lugert.

The second body was recovered Saturday after the first body was found Friday in the North Fork of the Red River.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 25-year-old Stewart Sullins of Granite, and 47-year-old Johnny Robertson entered the water Friday afternoon at the Lugert-Altus Dam.

Witnesses said they saw Robertson struggling and going underwater. Sullins jumped in to save him.
