Rudy the horse is ready to move on from life in a stall, Natalee Cross with Blaze’s Tribute Equine Rescue said.
In just seven months, she has nursed him back to health after a horrific ordeal.
He was rescued from a property in Oklahoma City in January after being found stuck in barbed wire and with wounds all over from animal attacks.

While Rudy healed, he shared his strength and survival with a horse in the stall next door. Double D came in a week after Rudy, also in critical condition. He had cancerous tumors.
They’ve been attached ever since.
“They’re very bonded, very,” Cross said. “You can’t take one without the other. And if you do, they’re going to be talking to each other, making sure that they’re not getting too far out of each other’s sight.”
The two get supervised trips outside with Cross. They both need protection from the elements, but love going outside for short periods of time.
“They play, they roll. They’re very happy. They really enjoy life to the fullest,” Cross told News 9.

The two were very close to death, so this time to thrive is well-deserved. Cross wants to give them the chance to roam around on their own by building a bigger enclosure.
The work has already begun on the 16 by 40 feet space. There will also be an attached, fenced-in area outside of the new enclosure for Rudy and Double D to run.
“I think they’re going to be excited for it,” she said.
The rescue has used money from their daily care budget to begin the improvements, but hope to get some help to finish the job.
A YouCaring account is set up for the enclosure improvements.
They are estimated to cost $8,000.

Cross said when they first rescued Rudy, people from all over donated money to help cover the cost of his care – to the tune of $22,000. And that made a huge dent in the total for his health treatments alone, nearly $32,000.
