Police Investigate After Woman Found Dead Inside SW OKC Apartment

A woman was found dead inside an apartment in southwest Oklahoma City.

It happened at the Country Club apartments on 5700 block of S. Agnew near S.W. 55th Street. Police got here around 8 p.m. when they received a request to check the welfare of a woman who had not shown up to pick up her children from daycare. That's when the woman's body was found inside one of the apartments.

The woman, later identified as 27-year-old Laura Marlene Brooks, had trauma to her body consistent with homicide, police said.  

Oklahoma City Police went door-to-door talking to neighbors, wanting to know if anyone heard or saw anything. One of the neighbors told us Brooks and a man just moved in less than a week ago

“When I talked to them, they were cool, they were all right. Nothing seemed wrong or anything,” Greg Benavidez said.

As for who could be connected to this, police also aren't saying much, but they want to reassure the public there's no reason to be concerned that the suspect could be out there. It sounds like they have a pretty good idea of who did this, but they're not being specific.

This is Oklahoma City's 41st homicide of 2015, according to police.
