Oklahoma City police are looking for the boyfriend of a woman found dead inside her apartment Thursday night.
Police issued an arrest warrant for Devin Alan Timmons, 22, Friday morning after 26-year-old Laura Brooks was found dead in the couple’s apartment at the Country Club apartments at SW 57th and Agnew.
Brooks and Timmons had just moved into the apartment complex a few weeks ago. So no one there really knew them.
Timmons was last seen dropping off her children at daycare, and hasn't been seen since.
“My heart sank, it honestly did. I knew something was wrong,” said Ben Brooks, Laura’s brother.
Ben recently moved to Kansas and agreed to talk to News 9 via Skype. He said his sister had been dating Timmons for a year and a half and knew the two had a rocky relationship.
Court records show Timmons had a prior domestic abuse charge out of Canadian County back in 2014 and also spent time in jail for a warrant out of Pottawatomie county.
“He's thrown lamps at her. He's choked her. He's held a knife to her throat,” said Ben. “He's threatened to kill himself. He's busted her van side windows.”
Ben says his sister would often vent about her abusive relationship on social media. But he says she continued to stay with Timmons, so friends stopped listening. A search of court records show she never filed a protective order either.
“But they didn't know what she was going through deep down inside,” said Ben. “If everyone had messaged her instead of blocking her, and giving her that one little piece of advice, saying ‘leave the situation,’ maybe my sister would still be alive.”

Ben says he told his sister to leave several times and even witnessed the abuse when he lived with the couple. He says he recently moved to Kansas and decided not to move in with his sister when she moved to her new southwest Oklahoma City apartment.
He says he knew something was wrong Thursday, when he got a phone call from Laura's work saying she never showed up. And he definitely got worried when he got a call saying no one had come to pick up her kids from the daycare center Thursday night.
“Laura never leaves her kids at daycare, especially two hours late without calling somebody,” said Ben.
The arrest warrant states Timmons was seen on video surveillance dropping off the children at the Create and Play daycare on S. May, Thursday morning around 7:30 a.m. When questioned, one of the children told officers Timmons had hurt Laura and that Laura “was in heaven now.”
“The 5-year-old had stated that ‘Daddy DJ had broken momma's back and she's in heaven,’” said Brooks. “I pray to God that he didn't do this in front of my niece and nephew, but if he did, I hope what he gets what he deserves.”
Police are still looking for Timmons. Ben says he could be in the Meeker area since that is where he is from. And he could be driving Laura's 2006 Honda Odyssey van.
Now all Ben has are his memories with his sister, memories he hopes to share with her 5 children.
“I know that she would want her kids to know that their mom is safe and not suffering, she's not being physically mentally and emotionally abused anymore,” said Ben.
“Please get out while you can. Don’t be me on the other end of Skype. Don’t have to make a Skype phone call or be up 24 hours for the one phone call that can change your life forever.”
