An Edmond man arrested on Friday, July 10 on first-degree murder and kidnapping complaints said it was an "act of passion."
According to police, officers responded to the report of a stabbing at an apartment in the 900 block of S. Boulevard where one person had been stabbed several times. The resident of the apartment told our officers that two other people were at his apartment when 22-year-old Gabe Allen Wainscott walked in and sat down on a couch with a knife in his hand.
Police said Wainscott put the knife on his leg and told everyone inside the apartment to put their cell phones on the floor. The resident told Wainscott to leave the apartment and Wainscott told him not until they tell him where “Trevor” is. Police said “Trevor” is the other resident of this apartment and was in the Oklahoma County jail at the time. He was arrested the day before on drug charges.
Wainscott told everyone inside the apartment he had been planning this for some time.
The resident asked Wainscott if he was holding them hostage and he said he was. The resident said at that time the victim, 26-year-old Gabriel Tomas Adarme got up from where he was sitting and took his phone out and walked toward the kitchen.
Wainscott at that point followed Adarme into the kitchen and attacked his with the knife. Police said Adarme was stabbed multiple times in the chest and abdomen.
Wainscott then left the apartment and headed south on Boulevard. He was arrested by Edmond police a few blocks south of the apartment complex.
Wainscott reportedly told officers that it was an “act of passion” because they were “screwing his girlfriend.” Wainscott said after the arrest that he stabbed a guy, but not the guy he was looking for.
