Norman Man Arrested For Murder In Death Of 2-Year-Old Step-Daughter

Norman police arrested a man in connection to the death of his 2-year-old step-daughter Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, Tyler Young, 24, was arrested on one count of first-degree murder. He was booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center.

Police said Young caused the death of his step-daughter at their home located in the 2800 block of Dewey Avenue. 

Police, along with medical crews, responded to the home on Sunday, August 2 after Young called 911 to report that the child was unresponsive.  EMSStat transported the child to Norman Regional Hospital, where she died later that evening.

Police detectives have worked closely with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner during the investigation and anticipate the filing of formal charges by the District Attorney within the next few days.
