Democratic candidate Cyndi Munson has won the house district seat held by longtime state Rep. David Dank, according to election results.

Munson beat Republican candidate Chip Carter in a special election for House District 85 with 54 percent of the votes with 2,640 votes. Carter won 2,268 votes.

Munson will serve in the state House for the remainder of Dank's term.

Dank, 76, died in April in his northwest Oklahoma City home. He was first elected as a Republican in 2006.

Munson ran for the seat in 2014 but lost to Dank. With her victory, house Democrats have 30 seats in the 101 seat state House.
