An 85-year-old homeowner shot a home invasion suspect who is in critical condition, according to Tulsa Police. The home invasion took place around 11 p.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of West Marshall.

The homeowner told officers a man with a gun forced his way into the house, and they got into a struggle. The elderly homeowner was shot in the hip and the suspect twice in the torso. Police believe the suspect in the home invasion has a punctured lung and severed spinal cord, records show.

The house was filled with belongings stacked halfway to the ceiling which present difficulties for first responders trying to get into the home, but both men have been taken to the hospital.

Police said the homeowner also had a wound to his head from the assault. His wounds are not believed to be life threatening.
