Eastbound traffic on I-40 at I-35 in Oklahoma City, has been blocked as crews work to clear the scene of a semi-truck fire Thursday afternoon.

According to the fire department, a semi-truck carrying gravel and a passenger car clipped each other in the eastbound lanes of I-40. The truck jack-knifed and the tractor caught on fire.

Fire officials said this was significant fire due to the fuel tanks of the truck rupturing and being involved in the fire.  Several OKCFD crews, including the Haz Mat unit, responded to the scene.  They used foam to bring the fire under control.

The semi-truck driver has been transported to Baptist Hospital with burn injuries. Two people were inside the passenger car. They refused to be transported to the hospital.

Firefighters have knocked down the fire. The three inside lanes of eastbound I-40 are closed between Robinson and the Dallas Jct. Additionally, the southbound I-235 ramp to eastbound I-40 is closed.
