Two Earthquakes Cause Power Outages In Payne County

An earthquake shook up residents near Cushing, Oklahoma Thursday night.

Two earthquakes shook up residents near Cushing, Oklahoma Thursday night.

A 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck at approximately 8:16 p.m. Its epicenter was located three miles west of Cushing, 14 miles southeast of Stillwater, and 33 miles east northeast of Guthrie. It was about two and a half miles deep.

Then, just before 9:00 p.m., a 3.4 magnitude quake struck in the same area.

According to Cushing Police, there are reported power outages but there have been no reports of injuries at this time.
