The Department of Corrections has delayed procedures to execute convicted killer Richard Glossip due to a lack of response from the U.S. Supreme Court.
Glossip’s attorneys have petitioned the high court after a long road of appeals. For the second time in two weeks, Richard Glossip will wake up in his cell on death row, set to executed by the state of Oklahoma for the 1997 murder of Barry Van Treese.
He's scheduled to be executed at 3 p.m. Wednesday. However, as of 2:30 p.m. the Supreme Court has not responded to the petition. Officials with the Department of Corrections said they have not started the execution procedures due to a lack of response from the Supreme Court. Execution procedures have been delayed until the Department of Corrections hears from the U.S. Supreme Court, officials said.

Glossip's team argued it had new evidence that proved Glossip did not hire Justin Sneed kill Van Treese.
But in the court's 3-2 ruling, it said no new evidence was presented. Instead, the findings only “merely build on previous evidence presented to the court.”
Glossip's team has filed a petition with the Supreme Court. The last time the defense did so in this case, that petition was denied.
