Moore Voters To Decide On $209M School Bond

A $209 million bond up for a vote next week in Moore would make improvements to every school in the district.

The money would add new gymnasiums, classrooms, storm shelters and update technology, among many other things.

At Fisher Elementary, the ‘media center’ or library would become two classrooms and a new library would be built behind the school.

Theresa Mosier said the cozy space they have now is too small for special guest speakers and group lessons. The new space would be five times the size of the current library.

The new library at Fisher would also be a storm shelter. Plus 22 other schools would receive storm shelters with the bond.

The money would also make room for new gymnasiums and other athletic facilities in the district, including new weight rooms, cheer rooms and locker rooms. They're improvements district leaders said address recent growth and give kids the tools they need to succeed.

Moore Schools officials estimate a resident with property worth $250,000 would see an increase in taxes by about $50 per year.

The election is Tuesday, October 13.
