OKC Man Arrested For Child Porn Leaves Behind Secret Journal

An Oklahoma City man, arrested twice on child porn charges within a matter of days, claimed he also sexually abused nearly 40 church kids.

The Canadian County Sheriff’s Office said every single name he listed is a real child and they are now notifying about 40 families that their children are possible victims of sexual abuse.

They said while they were searching Robert Dean Painter's electronic devices for child pornography, they came across a secret journal.

“Actually having it typed out in list form, I have never come across something like this,” said Lt. Adam Flowers with the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office.

They said Painter listed names and ages of nearly 40 children from local churches and the sexual encounters he had with them. The names are of boys and girls, ranging from two to 15 years old.

“Some of these victims might be too young to even recall what happened,” Flowers added.

Investigators will not release which four churches are involved since they are all cooperating. Three of the churches are in Oklahoma City and one is in Canadian County.

“This is going to be horrible news once these families have been reached,” Flowers told News 9.

The abuse could date back seven or eight years. Flowers said Painter switched churches every time he thought someone was getting suspicious.

In his writings, Flowers said Painter admitted he went to counseling, but it did not work.

“He just gave up on the counseling and just accepted the fact that he liked kids,” Flowers explained.

The National Center of Missing and Exploited Children told the OSBI that Painter was bragging online about sexually abusing church kids, and then OSBI assigned Canadian County to the case.

According to court records, Painter was arrested for child porn on his hard drive then, re-arrested days later for more images on his computer along with the journal.

“He labels himself ‘pedophile,’” Flowers said.  “He is sexually attracted to children and he is extremely dangerous and thank goodness he's caught,” he added.

Painter is being held in the Canadian County Jail on complaints of Aggravated Possession of Child Pornography without bond.
