A young Del City girl is getting a lot of help as she battles a rare and painful illness.
Samantha Lancaster, 9, was diagnosed with a condition called Chiari Malformations two years ago. It causes the back of her brain to slide down into her spinal cord.
Her parents are being helped by hundreds of thousands of dollars raised by Love’s Travel Stop’s annual fundraising drive.
This year, in Oklahoma alone, Love’s raised nearly $130,000 dollars in five weeks from its 46 Oklahoma stores.
Samantha Lancaster’s mother Ida said Love’s generosity has helped save her daughter’s life.
“We would be lost. We would probably, she would not be living a normal life, as she’s working to try to get through each day of pain,” she said.
Love’s spokeswoman Kealey Dorian said money raised has gone to causes in all of Oklahoma’s 77 counties.
