No human remains were found in a search of the property of a Midwest City man arrested in connection with the disappearance of Kristen Hatfield.

Investigators sent out the results of their search just before noon on Thursday.

Anthony Palma was arrested on Oct. 12. He lived just two houses away from Hatfield, and was linked to the case after his DNA matched blood evidence from the scene. Hatfield, 8, was abducted from her bedroom back in 1997.

After a week-long search that included the interior of Palma’s home, underneath the house and in the yard, no human remains were found. Investigators even removed concrete in the garage during their search.

“We have maintained integrity of Palma’s house since his arrest. After multiple days of tiresome searching and difficult manual labor, we are sad to announce we did not find Kirsten Hatfield’s remains, however, it does not discourage us as we continue our investigation,” said Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes.

According to the report, investigators will complete the search warrant and formal charges will be filed against Palma before the end of the month.
