Attorney: Fatal Crash Suspect Is 'Not A Monster'

Shortly after a vehicle drove into a crowd of people at the OSU homecoming parade, Stillwater police arrested a woman on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Adacia Chambers, 25, was taken to the Stillwater jail immediately after her arrest, and her family hired attorney Tony Coleman who visited with her for about an hour Saturday night.

Coleman told a group of reporters Sunday he could "definitely rule out alcohol" and Chambers "was not coming off a drunken stupor" when he saw her.

Says he visited with her for about an hour and says he does not believe she was competent and says in his opinion she has a mental illness.

Coleman mentioned Chambers has a history of mental illness in her family, and her boyfriend told him she may be a diabetic and was not being treated for it.

Coleman said he plans to have a psychiatric evaluation and mental competency requested for Chambers.
