The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has identified a man considered a person of interest in the shooting death of a woman near Canton, Oklahoma, early Wednesday morning.
The shooting happened at about 5 a.m. According to the OSBI, a male driver and his female passenger picked up a hitchhiker in Oklahoma City. When they were about two miles east of Canton, the driver said the hitchhiker pulled out a gun and shot the woman, killing her.
The driver told agents that the hitchhiker got out of the car and ran away. The driver said he drove the woman to the Canton Police Department for help.
The OSBI released a surveillance photo of a man considered a person of interest in this case. The photo was taken inside a Watonga convenience store.
The man was later identified as 23-year-old Christopher Blake Scruggs. Scruggs is a convicted felon with a warrant out for assault and possession of a firearm. If you know where he is or have any information, call the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.
