New Judge Appointed In OSU Parade Fatal Crash Trial

A new judge has been appointed in the trial of a woman accused of crashing into a crowd of people at the OSU Homecoming Parade, killing four and injuring dozens of others.

Adacia Chambers was due in court Monday in Stillwater. She's been jailed on $1 million bond since the Oct. 24 crash.

Special Judge Katherine R. Thomas, who was previously appointed to this case, recused herself in the proceedings because she personally knows a victim in the crash.

According to court documents, Monday morning, Louis A. Duel, Associate District Judge of the District Court of Logan County, has been appointed to conduct a preliminary hearing in this case.

The new judge has not yet set a date for the preliminary hearing.

Chambers has been formally charged with four counts of second-degree murder and 46 counts of assault. Prosecutors sought and were given a gag order in the case. They also asked the judge to seal Chambers' mental health records.

The judge ordered Chambers be committed to a state facility for competency evaluation.

Chambers' attorney, Tony Coleman, has said his client is mentally ill.
