Oklahoma City firefighters are at the scene of a crash that ended with a vehicle in the Oklahoma River Tuesday night, Oklahoma City fire officials said.

The accident was reported shortly before 7:20 p.m. and happened near SE 11 and High Avenue.

A vehicle drove north on High Avenue, hit a concrete barrier and flipped into a channel of the Oklahoma River, Oklahoma City fire District Chief Benny Fulkerson said.

Three people managed to get out of the vehicle and swim to shore. One of the occupants walked to a nearby home and called for help.

The two others swam to the bank of the river. A dive team was called out to make sure no other occupants were involved. No one else was in the vehicle, Fulkerson said.

Since the vehicle drove through train tracks nearby, the fire department has asked that train traffic be halted until the scene is clear.

Two people have been taken to a hospital.
