Burglary Suspect Shot By Homeowner In SW OKC

A burglary suspect was shot after trying to break into a southwest Oklahoma City home, Thursday morning.

Police got the call of shots fired near SW 36th St. and S. May Ave, around 11 a.m.

As it turns out, the suspect was shot by the owner of the home he was trying to burglarize, near SW 49th and May. The suspect then fled the scene and called police saying he had been shot in a drive-by.

Almost at the same time the suspect was calling police, the homeowner also called 911 saying he had just shot a burglar. Police soon figured out that the suspect was lying about the drive-by.

The still unidentified burglar was transported to a local hospital in non-life threatening condition.
