An Oklahoma missionary, who is being treated in Haiti for Zika virus, will speak via video during a news conference Monday afternoon.

A news conference is scheduled at 2:30 p.m. Monday at OU Children's Hospital. Infectious disease expert Dr. Robert Weliver will answer questions from reporters about the Zika virus.

The virus is a mosquito-borne and sexually transmitted virus which is prevalent in Latin America and the Caribbean. It is of particular threat to expectant mothers.

The Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a travel warning to pregnant women to avoid traveling.

News 9 learned that an Oklahoman who contracted the virus will join the news conference by video from Haiti. The patient is being treated in that country.

Health officials said this person was in Haiti serving as a missionary when they contracted the virus.
