A neighbor agreed to speak with News 9 but declined to show his face.
“I do live in earshot, and I heard about eight or 10 or 12 shots go off, and then it was dead silent about,” a neighbor said. “Then, about 10 minutes later, here comes the county.”
Investigators said several suspects tore through the door of a home in the 1000 block of 192nd Avenue NE, and that's when people nearby say a gunfire was exchanged.
“I heard that there were four or five guys wearing masks, and they kicked in and evidently they had the guy a target for some reason, because I was told when they walked in they said, ‘I’m going to kill you,’” a neighbor said.
When authorities arrived, they said one male suspect was dead. They blocked off the area to traffic for several hours and stayed until about 11 a.m. Sunday morning gathering evidence from the scene.
A man and a woman live in the home. They were not hurt but are missing one of the their dogs that was spooked by the gunshots and ran away from the home.
Their son is now desperately trying to find their 1-year-old Jack Russell terrier they call Kya.
Details of the shooting are vague, but investigators said the body of one intruder who did not survive is now at the state medical examiner's office.
“It looked like one of his own buddies might have popped him,” a neighbor said. “It makes you stay aware.”
