Family members are fearful the violence will continue if 19-year-old Kentrelle Buxton's killer isn't caught.
Buxton's mother Cynthia said her son was trying to distance himself from a gang, but she said he told her he was in too deep.
“I really feel that he didn’t know how to get out of it because every night at home he would cry to me that he hated his life and he wished he could change it. The decisions he’d made – he wanted me to forgive him for it,” Buxton explained.
The shooting happened at the Chapel Ridge Apartment Complex near SE 48 Street and Sooner Road on Sunday.

Police said they found Buxton dead lying on the upper landing of a stairway after witnesses heard an argument.
The report stated a dark colored vehicle was seen leaving the complex where the homicide happened. Investigators said the suspect is still on the loose.
Now, the victim’s mother is preparing to bury him, hoping the community will let the police handle the case.
She said she wants the suspect to know he or she has her forgiveness and that now it's time to do the right thing.
She said she hopes God puts it on the person’s heart to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide tip line at 297-1200.
