The body of a woman was found Sunday in a creek after loved ones began searching for the woman. She had been missing for days.
News 9 knows the name of this woman but is not reporting her name at this time until police positively identify her.
For days, the family of a young Chickasha woman has been looking her, even taking to Facebook in hopes someone knew where she was, but now, yellow tape all but confirms gut wrenching suspicions.
"They were looking for somebody when they did locate the person in the water,” Chickasha police Lt. Scott Weaver said.
Loved ones were looking for the woman along Line Creek near N 10 and W Pennsylvania Avenue when they made the discovery and called police. Neighbors said her red vehicle is stranded on the bank.
Detectives are working to find out exactly what happened. For now, they are calling the death suspicious and have called in the OSBI to help with the investigation.
"We have no idea as to how. There's not enough information here or anything to tell us whether it was any kind of accidental or intentional or any of that information,” Weaver said.
The body of this woman was taken to the medical examiner's office where a cause of death will be determined.
