No one was injured after a Stroud Tigers school activity bus caught fire in Oklahoma City, Monday morning.
According to the Oklahoma City Fire Department, firefighters responded to the bus fire in the westbound lanes of Interstate 44 just east of Interstate 35. All students are off the bus. They are safe.
Firefighters said the fire is out. However, a hazmat crew also responded to the scene due to a diesel fuel leak.
Officials with the Stroud School District told News 9 that all parents have been notified of the incident. The bus was taking students to the Oklahoma City Zoo for a field trip. Another bus will pick up the students and take them on the field trip, and they will return to school as normal.
Authorities said 23 high school freshman students and two adults were aboard the bus at the time. They said they heard a blow-out and stopped to check the bus. That's when it caught fire. The bus had a tank full of diesel.
