A large barn caught fire early Friday morning near N.W. 150th St. and Madder Drive in Oklahoma City.
According to the fire department, the abandoned, empty barn was estimated to be 200’ x 100’, and it was totally consumed by fire when firefighters arrived. The blaze was difficult to extinguish because of its location, tucked back behind some houses.
Fire officials said there was no access to the barn except with smaller brush pumpers that they typically use for grass fires. Brush pumpers are designed for off-road use, so several were used to get water to the structure.
Firefighters brought the majority of the fire under control, using a rescue ladder that has a nozzle at the end. The brush pumpers assisted, and the fire was ultimately extinguished.
No one was injured. Fire Investigators are looking into a cause.
No property other than the barn was damaged.
