Luther Area Rattled By 3.7 Magnitude Quake

Residents in central Oklahoma were jolted by another moderately sized earthquake, Wednesday morning.

The 3.7 magnitude temblor struck at approximately 10:44 a.m. about seven miles north northeast of the town of Luther, Okla., or about 29 miles to the northeast of the OKC metro, at a depth of about three miles. It was originally reported as a 4.1-magnitude but was downgraded Wednesday afternoon.

Several News 9 viewers around the metro area reported feeling the shaking. So far there have been no reports of injuries or damage associated with this quake.

On Tuesday, a 4.0 and a 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck areas near Harrah and Luther respectively.  

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely with quakes at magnitudes of 4.0 and greater.
