A Georgia woman is behind bars after sheriff’s deputies busted her driving with more than 25 pounds of marijuana in a false compartment of her vehicle.
It happened around 10:30 p.m. on Monday. A deputy pulled over 31-year-old Angela Baldridge for following too closely to a pickup, eastbound on Interstate 40 near mile marker 113, to the west of El Reno.
When the deputy made contact with Baldridge he noticed an overwhelming smell of air-freshener coming from the vehicle. He also became suspicious with the story Baldridge told him about from where she was traveling and the time on the road not adding up. A K-9 unit was called in and the dog made a positive hit on the vehicle.
“Because Baldridge gave us an unrealistic timeline on her travel from Phoenix, we figure she was actually traveling from the Los Angeles or somewhere on the west coast,” said Chris West, Canadian County Undersheriff.
After searching the vehicle, investigators discovered a hidden compartment, in which was hidden 25 individually packed, vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana weighing approximately 26.5 pounds. The drugs have an estimated street value of between $450,000 and $500,000.
Baldridge was arrested and booked into the Canadian County Jail on Drug Trafficking complaints. Her bond was set at $100,000.
