Oklahoma Couple Fights Over $46K Engagement Ring

One very large engagement ring is the center of a legal battle between a former couple.

According to the lawsuit filed Thursday in Oklahoma district court, G. Edward Evans proposed to Jennifer Saba in August 2015 with a ring purchased for $46,000. The lawsuit also states Saba specifically picked out the ring.

The complaint says the couple agreed if the wedding did not happen Evans would get the ring back. Saba has refused to return the ring according to the lawsuit.

News 9 spoke to Edmond divorce attorney Collin Walke about who should be the rightful owner of the bling.

“The debate is going to whether or not it was a gift immediate as soon as he gave it, or whether it was given under the certain conditions and whether those conditions were fulfilled,” said Walke.

The suit also alleges Saba misled law enforcement into letting her into Evans home to retrieve her property. Evans claims the items taken include watches, kitchen appliances, a laptop and two high-end bottles of bourbon belonging to him. 

In Oklahoma, this is not as clear cut. Walke says an oral agreement on an engagement ring can't even be made in Texas, everything must be in writing.

Saba did not return our messages and Evan's attorney says they won't comment on the case.
