Deborah Lawson’s weekend started with a discovery; her disabled black cat, Shady, was missing.
She said Shady is blind and partially deaf, and she didn’t think the 5-year-old cat could’ve gotten far.
“She can’t even run from you, she can’t even see you,” Lawson said.
After hours of worrying, Lawson's family told her they saw pictures of a cat matching Shady’s description online, but there was something wrong.
The pictures showed Shady with an arrow in her side.
“We’re traumatized, I feel like there’s a killer in our neighborhood, if it was an accident I’d like to know that but I don’t see how it could be an accident, someone was a really good shot,” she said.
After an assessment where the veterinarian determined the cat would be paralyzed, Lawson and her family decided to put Shady to sleep.
“She was paralyzed from the shoulder down and she was already blind. She would’ve had to drag herself and I couldn’t bear for her to suffer anymore,” Lawson said.
Lawson and her family said they filed a police report with the Tecumseh Police Department.
