A walk-through the living quarters of a recent employee at Whispering Pines Bed and Breakfast.

Owner, Rany Kchao told News 9 it looks inviting enough, “It is as far as I’m concerned but I guess she didn’t think that way.”

And according to Kchao, neither did a different former employee who sparked the investigation by going to the Department of Labor.

According to a search warrant granted by the US District Court, that employee claims the Kchao’s were keeping an indentured servant.

Hard work is something Kchao said got him where he is today.

Investigators said he paid for the Cambodian woman to come to America, in return she would work off her debt.

Kchao said she already paid off her loan and he never considered her a servant or slave.

“She’s my baby, she’s almost like – in fact, I love her more than my daughter because she’s all about saving and her future,” said Kchao.

Federal investigators said the Cambodian woman worked at the bed and breakfast for the past two years, working 14 to 15 hours a day and never received a paycheck.

Kchao denied the claims of abuse and trafficking and argues her living conditions were good.
