Two people were injured, one critically, after police say they were run over while interrupting a car burglary at an apartment complex in southwest Oklahoma City, early Wednesday morning.

It happened just after 4 a.m. at the Santa Fe apartments located near SW 44th St. and S. Santa Fe. Ave.

Ramona Del Gado told News 9 she and her son, 16-year-old Luisiano Samayoa, were asleep when they heard some people trying to break into vehicles.

All four of the suspects had weapons, and according to Del Gado, when she and her son threatened to call police, the suspects jumped into a dark colored 2016 Jeep Patriot and ran the pair over as they made their escape. Police said the Jeep was likely a stolen vehicle.

Del Gado suffered a large gash on her knee, but her son was critically injured with multiple fractures to his pelvis. He was taken to OU Medical Center for surgery.

Police are still searching for the suspects. There is no description at this time.
