Kevin Durant's decision to leave the Thunder for the Golden State Warriors was a shock to most people in the state of Oklahoma, but despite the bad news, the Thunder organization has handled the situation with complete class. Thunder Chairman, Clay Bennett, wrote a letter to season ticket holders that can be seen below:
Related: And Then There Was One
Earlier today, Kevin informed us of his decision to leave the Thunder organization. As Sam and I have conveyed publicly, Kevin made an indelible mark on our organization and the state of Oklahoma as a founding father of this franchise. We can't adequately articulate what he meant to the foundation of this franchise and our success. While clearly disappointing that he has chosen to move on, the core values that he helped establish only lead to us thanking him for the many tangible and intangible ways that he helped our program.
We value that we have the best fans in sports and you have created the best home-court advantage in the NBA. You can rest assured that the fiber throughout our organization remains as resilient as ever, and we have tremendous belief in and optimism about the players within our program. No one is more dedicated and committed to sustaining our success and pushing forward than myself and our team.
We deeply appreciate your support and loyalty.
Sincerely,
Clayton I. Bennett
Chairman, Oklahoma City Thunder
