Yukon firefighters say two people safely escaped a house fire early Friday morning.
Fire crews say lightning struck a home in the 9200 block of N.W. 95th St. sparking a fire in the attic. One resident tried to use his garden hose to put out the fire before emergency crews arrived.
The fire was contained to the attic. Firefighters estimate flames caused $40,000 in damage.
In northwest Oklahoma City, a fire inside a shed threatened a nearby home. Firefighters say lightning hit the outbuilding near N.W. 19th and Keeton during the height of Friday morning's severe thunderstorm.
The fire was contained to the shed.
