Monday afternoon, Oklahoma City police will release a video showing a deadly officer-involved shooting that happened on a city bus on Friday, June 24.
The department will hold a news conference at 1 p.m. at the Oklahoma City Police Headquarters to release the bus surveillance video taken during the police shooting of Miguel A. Chaves-Angles.
News9.com plans to live-stream this news conference and we will attach the complete video to this story.
Police said this all started after a report of a vandalism at N.W. 11th and Walker. That was where the suspect, 42-year-old Miguel Chaves-Angles, was seen grabbing a rock and bashing out a car window.
Chaves-Angles reportedly then forced his way into a car with two women inside. Officers said he made them drive off but later got out of the car at N.W. 23rd and Classen.
Chavez-Angles eventually ran onto a city bus where he was confronted by Oklahoma City Police Officer, Heather Lane. Police said Chavez-Angles reached for Officer Lane's gun, and the two got into a physical struggle for Lane's weapon. Officer Daniel Carli came to Officer Lane’s aid and fired his gun, killing Chavez-Angles.
No one else was injured in the incident. The officers involved have been placed on administrative leaving pending the investigation.
