Crews have extinguished a fire at a home on the southwest side of the metro, Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called out to the home located near SW 66th St. and S. Walker Ave., just across the street from Parmelee Elementary School.

Due to multiple fire trucks on scene, authorities have closed SW 66th St. in both directions from Harvey to Hudson. The closure may affect parents picking up children from school. Parents will need to access the school from Walker Ave.

Firefighters say the home is vacant, with the windows all boarded up with plywood. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
