The Midwest City Police Department is searching for a suspect wanted in connection with the robbery and shooting death of a store clerk Saturday morning.
The incident took place around 7:45 a.m., at GI's Market located at 10001 NE 10th Street.
According to police, the suspect made a small purchase and then waited for a customer to leave before pulling a semi-automatic handgun demanding money from the clerk.
Police said the store clerk, identified as Salman Tahir, 33, of OKC, cooperated. The suspect took the money, shot out the surveillance monitor and then shot Tahir in the back. The suspect was last seen walking from the business.
Tahir was found by a customer a short time later, and he was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries sustained in the shooting.
"It is horrific, senseless and tragic when a person can lose their life over an insignificant amount of money - especially when the victim is cooperative," said MWC Police Chief Brandon Clabes.
Police described the suspect as a black male, late teens or early twenties, wearing a dark-hooded jacket and black pants.
"We hope someone recognizes this killer quickly and does the right and moral thing by contacting law enforcement," said Clabes.
Police provided still shots of the suspects in hopes of someone recognizing him. If you do and/or know of the suspect's whereabouts, you're asked to call the Midwest City Police Department at 405-739-1306.
