A Yukon man was arrested for possession of child pornography after a week-long investigation by the Canadian County Sheriff’s office.
Officers arrested 22-year-old Robert Abercrombie on Monday after receiving a tip from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation about a high volume of child pornography being distributed from a home in Yukon.
Investigators obtained a search warrant and went to the home. Their they met with Abercrombie’s mom, who told investigators she had just dropped her son off at work at a local fast food restaurant.
After searching the home, officers verified that child porn was being downloaded and distributed from a laptop and Abercrombie’s mother confirmed that the computer belonged to her son.
Investigators then made contact with Abercrombie at his job, where they say he provided them with a full confession. In addition to the confession, investigators say Abercrombie turned over an iPod which contained hundreds of images of child porn.
“We believe Abercrombie was so infatuated with child porn that he kept his iPod with him so he could take secret peeks whenever he felt the need to satisfy his sick and twisted addiction,” said Chris West, Canadian County Undersheriff.
Abercrombie was taken to the Canadian County Jail where he was booked on one count of Aggravated Possession of Child Pornography, one count of Possession of Child Pornography and one count for Violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act. His bond was set at $125,000 and he remains behind bars.
Authorities do not believe that Abercrombie ever physically assaulted any children.
