The family of a former Jets player who was killed in a crash north of Claremore has found the dog that had been missing since the crash. Willow ran off from the two-vehicle crash that killed Dennis Byrd, 50, Saturday morning on Highway 88 near Lowry Road.
The 10-week-old black Lab pup was missing overnight despite efforts to find her in the rural area. Family members contacted News On 6 to say the Willow was missing and ask for the public's help in finding her.
Rogers County resident Linda Trout posted the good news on Tess Maune's Facebook page:
I live close to the crash site, and the puppy showed up at my house this morning. She was hungry, but unhurt and currently sleeping in my living room. I notified a friend of the family and they will be here after church to pick her up. SO glad we can reunite this sweet pup with her family!

Dennis Byrd and his son, Zach, were in a Hummer hit head-on by an SUV that crossed the center line.
The Trouts gave Willow to a friend of the family who is taking the pup to Oklahoma City where Byrd's 12-year-old son is undergoing surgery on a leg injury, according to the family friend.
The 17-year-old driver of the other SUV, who was not identified because of his age, was said to be stable with numerous injuries.
