A man wanted out of McCurtain County on multiple complaints was shot by police in an Edmond mobile home park, Monday night.
Police responded to the Apple Village mobile home park, located near W. 15th St. and Fretz Ave., around 9 p.m. to reports of a man with a rifle, fighting with residents at a home in the park. The caller told police the suspect was 25-year-old Autrayus McGee.
Investigators learned McGee was wanted in McCurtain County for Robbery, Rape, Forcible Sodomy, Kidnapping and Burglary.
Responding officers could not locate McGee at first, but around 10:30 p.m., an officer still in the mobile home park was flagged down by a woman, who said a man with a rifle and possibly a handgun was outside of her mobile home, asking for a ride and to use the phone.
The officer then spotted a man matching McGee’s description. According to the officer, McGee did not respond to verbal commands and took off running. The officer then fired, striking McGee in the leg. McGee was taken to the hospital, treated and released overnight.
The officer is on administrative leave while the investigation continues.
After an initial interview, Edmond Police say McGee will be taken to the Oklahoma County Jail.
