Gov. Mary Fallin was one of seven people named as new vice chairs to President-elect Donald Trump's transition team.

Other vice chairs named Tuesday night are U.S. Reps. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tennessee; Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyoming; Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Washington; Tom Reed, R-New York; Kathleen Troia "KT" McFarland; and U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, R-South Carolina, according to a news release from the transition team.

This announcement more than doubles the vice chairs that were already on the transition team.

Fallin released a statement Tuesday night:

"I'm honored to serve on the Trump-Pence Presidential Transition Team. I'm looking forward to working with the many distinguished leaders on the team to help support this administration that will lead our country back to safety, prosperity and peace. I'm also proud to make sure Oklahomans' values and concerns are heard during this important process."

The governor's office said it is not known how often she will be in New York City due to this temporary position.
