Police cars lined the parking lot of Washington Public Schools this morning, as officials with OSBI confirm they are investigating a student-on-student sexual assault.

Information is very limited in this case according, and law enforcement will not confirm the date of the alleged assault, but say the two students are both juveniles.

However, some parents who have children enrolled at Washington Public Schools say they believe this case took place a couple years ago.

At this point, it is not clear what prompted the investigation.

“We were requested a couple of weeks ago, and came out here today,” says OSBI Spokeswoman Jordan Solorzano.

Students who graduated from Washington High say this kind of crime can happen anywhere and is being reported more frequently. They say it should be taken seriously.

“I think innocent until proven guilty thing applies here. They need to investigate and make sure that is someone gets punished for it, they get punished for the right reasons, and the victim in it gets the help that they need,” says former student Christian Ball.

OSBI agents began their on scene investigation earlier this morning, which was carried into late afternoon.

We're told by officials with the school that students as well as staff were interviewed about the case.

“One victim at this point. One confirmed victim, and we are possibly speaking about multiple incidents involving this one victim,” Solorzano says.

The superintendent of Washington Schools says they are being cooperative in the investigation. Because Washington is small--neighbors say rumors--even some truth travels around quickly-- now that it's out in the open, they're hopeful details will come to light soon.

“But also at the same time, since it's such a small town everyone keeps to themselves and that small town thing where it spreads quickly can scare people into not revealing anything,” Ball says.

It is still unclear if OSBI will be making another trip to the school to follow-up on the alleged sexual assault.

However, the agency says it will be contacting the District Attorney with their findings.
