Body Found Near Rocky Ford State Park In Cherokee County

Authorities in Cherokee County are investigating the discovery of a body near Rocky Ford. 

The sheriff's office in Tahlequah said a body was found this morning and it's been taken to the medical examiner's office for identification.

It's near a spot where a 22-year-old man named Lucas Ashlock was reported missing last Tuesday and family members believe it's him.

Family members posted on Facebook about his disappearance and said he was at a party last Tuesday night, and left on foot, intoxicated, and that was a very cold night.

The sheriff's office said the body was taken to the medical examiner's office for a determination of what caused the death and for identification, but Ashlock's family has no doubt.

"I just wish someone would have taken me more seriously when I was worried 5 days ago," said Danielle Haddock, Ashlock's sister.  "I called everyday, literally crying for help everyday and no one ever called me back.  This is my worst nightmare."
