Three months after a fire nearly burned the whole place down, “Rick and Bunni’s” Smoke Shop officially re-opened its doors Friday.

The January 16th fire that destroyed Gerald’s Donuts and a massage parlor next door, resulted in major smoke damage at Rick and Bunni’s, at Southwest 59th Street and South Penn Avenue.

Co-owner Rick Wheaton says it’s been a struggle to get back, but it will be worth it.

“We knew we were coming back.  Our customers love us, so we couldn’t abandon our neighborhood.” said Wheaton.

Bunni Wheaton says they picked April 20th to re-open, not because April 20th is known worldwide as “International Pot Smoking Day,” but because it’s Rick and Bunni’s wedding anniversary.
