A new attack ad is released by supporters of Republican candidate for governor Mick Cornett, is targeting his opponent Kevin Stitt.
The ad says "Kevin Stitt's a phony conservative too. Stitt pumped thousands of dollars into a DC political group that propped up liberals Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters."

The ad is paid for by the group “Oklahoma Values,” not by Cornett’s campaign.
Oklahoma City Community College Political Science Professor Dana Glencross says it’s obvious the ad is trying to portray Stitt as liberal.
"Especially when that ad shows the back picture of Barack Obama. There's no secret as to why that Image appears,” said Glencross.
Cornett’s campaign says with all of the money Stitt is paying on political ads, he appears desperate.
But Glencross says, with two recent polls showing Stitt leading, it appears Cornett is desperate.
"We've got an apparent frontrunner who is outperforming a guy who's been in a lot of races, who should know how to run a race,” said Glencross. "I think that you could say it's desperation."
News 9 did reach out to Cornetts campaign. He does not want to talk about the ad on camera.
News 9 and News On 6 will feature stories on the Stitt and Cornett campaigns leading up to the runoff election on August 28, 2018.
