Long List Of Witnesses Expected In Bert Franklin Murder Trial

An innocent toddler beaten to death allegedly by the hands of a former Tulsa dentist. The charged murderer, Bert Franklin, is on trial this week.

Jurors heard testimony from five witnesses on Tuesday. The state’s witness list is long, possibly 50. 

Prosecutors referred to Franklin in opening statements as a “baby killer.” He is on trial for the 2016 deadly abuse of his mistress’s 19-month-old son. 

Franklin is also on trial for allegedly hiring a hit from his jail cell on the baby’s mother, Roxanne Randall. His attorney told the jury that Franklin has acted foolishly in jail by joining a jail gang but said it was for survival and he never had plans to kill Randall. 

Jurors also heard from the toddler’s nanny, a mutual friend of Franklin and his mistress, the baby’s father and two family members. 

Prosecutors expect the trial to last two weeks.
