An intense day of court testimony on Wednesday for the mother of a murdered toddler.

Roxanne Randall’s ex-boyfriend, Bert Franklin, is on trial for the death of her 19-month-old son Lincoln Lewis and allegations he arranged to have her killed.

The jury heard from Randall for most of the day. They also briefly heard testimony from the emergency room doctor who treated the toddler, and who said it was the worst head trauma he had ever seen.

Franklin, a former Tulsa dentist, listened from across the room as Randall spoke about the hours leading up to a frantic 911 call and trip to the emergency room.

Randall told the court Franklin was alone with the child in her living room the day before he was rushed to hospital.

Franklin’s defense is that the toddler fell down stairs days prior to the emergency room visit in July 2016.

The emergency room doctor who treated Lincoln told prosecutors he did not believe the child’s head injuries came from a fall. He called DHS and police because he suspected the injuries were from abuse.

Franklin has denied those allegations from the beginning.

“He is innocent of these charges,” said Scott Adams, Franklin’s attorney. “He’s always said he is innocent and I believe him. I think we’ll get through to the jury and prove to everyone he’s innocent.”

The doctor also told prosecutors and defense attorneys the child’s injuries were fresh, meaning they had to have happened only hours before the child came to the hospital.
