The hashtag #prayforjake is spreading throughout Oklahoma.

At the time of this article, nearly 2,000 people have joined a Facebook group to lift Jake Thomas-Simmons and his family up in prayer.

Jake is a 2018 Norman North graduate. After Jake graduated from NNHS, he got a football scholarship to Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU).

On Sunday August 26, he was in a serious single car accident.

Friends say he had spent the weekend with family, but was on his way back to southwestern Oklahoma when the crash happened.

He is currently in critical condition at OU Medical Center.

“We are praying for him, before practice,” said Jake’s former coach, David Richardson. “He is the reason why I coach high school football. He is the epitome of a good kid, good family.”

There has been a fund for medical expenses set up for the family at Republic Bank & Trust in the name of “Benefit of Jake Thomas Simmons”. Monetary donations can be dropped off at any Republic Bank & Trust location in the metro area.
